Yvette Prefontaine

About this artist

Yvette Prefontaine has been a practicing artist for over 10 years. She works primarily in painting, drawing, and collage, and is currently developing her skills as a singer-songwriter and dancer. Much of Yvette’s work is inspired by her experiences of nature, as well as her own ancestry and family history.

Yvette is highly skilled and her art has been featured in several exhibitions. In 2016, her work was chosen for the YEGcanvas project and was publicly displayed on billboards around Edmonton. As a participant in the Nina’s New Voices project, Yvette worked with award winning singer songwriter Raphael Freynet to compose an original song and music video. Most recently, Yvette participated in a project throughout the summer of 2017 focusing on Canadian art with artists from the RBC Emerging Artist apprenticeship program.

In 2020, Yvette received the Rotary Club of Edmonton Northeast CONNECT Award. This award recognizes an artist each year who uses their art practice to connect with others and their community.
