Holly Sabourin

Born and raised in Hay River with a brother and sister, Holly moved to Edmonton five years ago from Yellowknife. Holly has been making art since high school, where she drew animals—horses, bears, wolves—in art class. She still likes to draw in her free time at home, and works on cartoon figures as well as animals. Holly comes to the Nina twice a week. Although she has made beautiful weavings and glass work, she mainly works in ceramics on the wheel and hand building sculptures. This year, she started making highly-detailed spheres then progressed to faces, then built full figures. Her technical ability and delicate touch are evident in the fine details of each work. Self-directed, Holly experiments widely, having recently made masks and figures and is now working on ceramic animals.
